Semi Permanent Makeup - Cosmetic Tattooing

Cosmetic Tattooing or Semi-Permanent makeup is the process of implanting cosmetic pigments into the dermis layer of the skin to improve one's appearance, and save time compared to that of traditional makeup. The most common areas where semi-permanent makeup is performed are on eyebrows, eye lines and lip lines.

Cosmetic tattooing of eyebrows helps to shape eyebrows so that they are proportioned and balanced with your facial shape and features based on the look you desire.   Complimentary shades to match your hair and skin give you lots of choices to achieve the results you want.

 

The most obvious benefit of permanent makeup is that it can simply save you time. People with busy schedules, long commutes and numerous commitments can save minutes out of their morning routine each day. And you never have to worry about your makeup smudging or fading.  Permanent makeup won't come off after swimming, working out or showering. But there are many reasons for someone to get permanent makeup beyond the timesaving benefits. People with physical disabilities or impaired motor skills, such as arthritis, Parkinson's disease or multiple sclerosis, may want permanent makeup because it's difficult for them to apply makeup themselves [source: Society of Permanent Cosmetic Professionals]. With permanent makeup, they can continue to wear makeup without having to worry about whether they've applied it accurately. People with poor eyesight may invest in permanent makeup for the same reasons.

Eyebrows

We offer 2 techniques of Semi-Permanent Cosmetic Eyebrows to suit customer preference:

 

Feather Touch / Hair stroke's

This revolutionary technique simulates individual strokes of hair that are implanted at an angle similar to natural hairs of the brow. This technique is more common and more effective for alopecia sufferers or clients whose eyebrows are patchy or sparse.

 

Block and Block Shading

The entire brow is filled with one colour to give a sharp-pencilled effect. A high percentage of customers prefer this technique as it replicates what they have drawn on their brows for many years.

Colour Mist is sub-technique to both the Block procedure where the brow is given a powdered fill appearance and is a shading technique that can be either subtle or defined. This technique can also be influenced by the feather touch technique, allowing for hair strokes to be implanted over the top of the shading and only once the skin has fully healed. Giving a fuller, more defined two-toned brows natural brow.

Eyeliners

There are many methods of eye lining that can be used to create a suitable definition for each and every client. Shape, Colour & thickness are all factors that clients are able to alter.

 

Some clients prefer the eyeliner to be 'wedged', meaning that the eyeliner is made thicker at the outer part of the eye for a more dramatic look. Whilst other clients prefer a natural 'dome' where the widest part of the liner is over the iris. The most common choice of the liner is the technique that follows the natural eyelash hairline and no more. All of these techniques work to open up the eyes, give a more fuller looking lash and to define the eyes.

 

Clients can choose to have half sets only (tops or bottoms only), or full sets (both top & bottom) eyeliners. Prices of the procedure will differ according to client preference. 

Lips (Contouring/Blushing/Full Colour)

Lip liner helps to accentuate and define the lips by enhancing the shape. For fuller sexier lips or corrections of uneven contours are all possible now with this procedure. Clients can choose from a wide selection of neutral or vibrant shades of pigment used to colour the lips. A permanent lip liner is ideal for women who frequently reapply their lipstick.

 

The Benefits - For the busy woman on the go, permanent makeup saves time and money by giving you a glamorous look without the hassle of the daily makeup routine. It's ideal for women who are sensitive or have allergies to cosmetics as some commercial makeup may be especially irritating.  Permanent makeup is also an ideal solution for people with poor eyesight, unsteady hands or disabilities that make it difficult or impossible to apply makeup properly.

Important Information

PLEASE REMEMBER that the colour is up to 50% darker straight after the treatment.  It will fade after 4 to 7 days and the true colour will not come through until up to 4 weeks after the initial treatment. 

 

During the healing process, the colour may seem to have disappeared as it is obscured by the healing skin.  Under no circumstances should you have further permanent cosmetic work undertaken during the 4-week period.

 

  • DO NOT expose the area to extreme heat or extreme cold until healed.  This includes sunbathing, tanning beds, saunas etc. avoid chlorinated pools and jacuzzis during healing.

 

  • DO NOT use makeup for 3 days and in the case of eye procedures use a new mascara to prevent infection.

 

  • DO NOT apply Vaseline - this will make the area sweat, allowing the pigment to heal incorrectly during the healing process.  Our in-house balm should be the only thing you use for healing at all times. 

 

  • DO NOT itch, pick, scratch or rub the area or the colour will heal unevenly or cause scarring and infection

 

General Post Procedure Information

  • In order to keep your permanent cosmetic work in perfect condition, it may be necessary to have a maintenance procedure about every 12 to 18 months, though this will vary for each individual.  The cost of these procedures is roughly half that of the original procedure.  Please see current price list for details.

 

  • To avoid pigment fade for as long as possible, avoid excessive exposure to the sun or UV rays and use a good sunscreen or moisturizer with an SPF15.

 

  • If you are planning an MRI scan, chemical peel or any other similar procedures, please inform your practitioner that you have had permanent cosmetics.

 

  • You should not be eligible to give blood for 6 months after your procedure, please inform the National Blood Service of your procedure and date if you want to give blood.

 

  • If you are planning injections such as Botox and Collagen remember it can alter the shape of your lips and eyebrows.

 

  • Laser hair removal can fade and change the shade of your lips or brow procedures, always advise the laser technician you are wearing permanent cosmetics and they can act accordingly.

FAQ's

How long after does the treatment last for?

The treatment is considered permanent as it will not wash off, however, it will soften over time due to continuous exposure to the elements and may need a retouch in 2-5 years depending on how it has been looked after.

 

What Colours are available?

Colour availability depends on your skin tone. Your technician will choose a colour that is suitable for your skin tone and hair colour. No pigment mixture is used without client approval.

 

Does it Hurt?

Comfort levels vary from person to person. The benefits far outweigh any discomfort you may experience with this safe procedure.  A highly effective topical anaesthetic cream or gel are used for numbing and comfort at the beginning of every procedure.

 

How Safe is it?

The procedure is done under strict sanitation and sterilisation regulations. A well trained & certified technician administers each new procedure using a disposable sterilised parts and needles at all times. All pigments are FDA specially approved.

History on Semi-Permanent Makeup

Permanent makeup dates back at least to the start of the 20th century, though its nature was often concealed in its early days. The tattooist George Burchett, a major developer of the technique when it became fashionable in the 1930's, described in his memoirs how beauty salons tattooed many women without their knowledge, offering it as a "complexion treatment ... of injecting vegetable dyes under the top layer of the skin."

 

Permanent makeup results in enhanced features of the face—definition is given to eyebrows, eyes and lips with the use of colours. Results are designed to imitate applied cosmetics. At first, permanent makeup results may look darker. This is due to colour remaining in the outermost epidermal layers of skin from the start. Colour softens within a few days during the healing process as the upper layers of epidermis are replaced by new skin cells.
